How to become an NDTR?

​Becoming a Nutrition and Dietetics Technician, Registered requires to:

  1. Earn at least an Associate’s degree and complete an accredited NDTR program: programs consist of completing 450 hours of supervised practice in the community, health-care and foodservice facilities.

  2. Or Earn at least a Bachelor’s degree and complete DPD accredited coursework.

  3. Pass the national exam for NDTRs: after satisfying educational requirements, individuals need to sit down and take an exam so as to become an NDTR.

  4. Stay in the know of Dietetics through continuing education: once a person has successfully passed the exam and are credentialed, they stay up-to-date by reading research, learning about new practices as well as recommendations.
