Meet 2024-2025 Board
Hey everyone! I'm so excited for this upcoming year as President of the SDA. A bit about me: I'm in my senior year of the DPD track bachelor's program; I live faithfully to the Trinity and the living word of God. I am working with Dr.Rivera to create opportunities at Baptist Hospital, UM, homelessness centers, and more. As president, I want to help students have opportunities to develop and get their feet into the field of dietetics, where they can grow professionally and personally. I hope students can network and expand their knowledge in the different fields of nutrition.

I’m Justienne Octavo, and I’m currently a senior majoring in Dietetics and Nutrition. As the Vice President, I aim to increase engagement with our members by providing more volunteer and networking opportunities. I want to share the knowledge I have learned throughout the years with upcoming Dietetic students and provide them with resources to help them succeed in our field.

Originally from the UK, I have been enjoying life in Florida since 2020. Having decided to go back to college to pursue my passions for science, food and fitness, I am embracing the path to becoming an RDN and laying roots here in Miami. Looking forward to being part of a successful SDA over the next year. Currently to be found in my new neighborhood, exploring the Brickell food scene.

I’m most looking forward to having the opportunity to serve on the executive board for SDA this semester! I cannot wait to collaborate with the team to find new and exciting ways to engage our members and make a meaningful impact within our community.
Public Relations
I’m Carmen Diaz, a senior in the undergraduate program and by being part of the SDA board, I hope to participate in as many events as possible and network with those in our field. I aim to disseminate what I’ve learned in the past years and share beneficial information by utilizing trusted websites. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach to us! Hi everyone, my name is Matthew Sammour, and I am currently a senior here at FIU! The thing that I am looking forward to the most is bringing in a new aspect to the SDA and helping students who are interested in Sports nutrition get more involved.

My name is Jessica Shpilko. I am a junior majoring in Dietetics and Nutrition, and a swimmer on the FIU Swim and Dive team. I am very excited to be part of the SDA E-board and fulfill the role of the RSO representative. My primary goal for this upcoming year is to ensure that events run smoothly and that there is effective communication between the RSO Council and the E-board. I hope to attract more students to the SDA events and create a welcoming atmosphere for everyone.
